6 Reasons to Hire a Squarespace SEO Expert

If you’re an online business owner - coach, consultant, service provider, creatives - you can benefit from the power of SEO.

Chances are that you already know what SEO is if you’re reading this, but just in case you have no idea what SEO entails, here’s what you need to know...SEO stands for search engine optimization.

It’s the process of setting up your website and its content in a way that gives you maximum visibility potential. In other words, you’re making it easy for Google to understand what your website is about and improving your visibility in the search results.

Many people say that Squarespace SEO sucks, which couldn't be farther from the truth. For the purposes of online business owners and creatives like photographers or floral designers, Squarespace has all the essential SEO settings that you can customize for your website.

In this post, I’m breaking down 6 reasons to hire a Squarespace SEO expert.

1. SEO can be very overwhelming

It’s very common as a business owner to want to DIY as much as we can (and as cheap as possible). But ask anyone - trying to learn SEO on your own is no small task.

Research can take hours and hours. And after you’ve burnt the midnight oil, you step away from your laptop feeling even more overwhelmed than when you first sat down. Basically, you didn’t learn much.

A Squarespace SEO expert can help you cut through the noise and break down the topic in a way that you actually understand and feel confident implementing in the future.

2. Save time

Going off my last point, you can spend hours digging through the interwebs and come up empty handed. Especially with SEO, there is SO MUCH out there. And not all of it applies to online business owners i.e. “the small guys.”

You can easily find yourself digging into advanced SEO strategies that you would never need to implement in your business because they’re meant for large corporations.

Hiring a Squarespace SEO expert will take the burden off by providing only the information that is truly essential for you to know for your business and needs.

That’s why my website design and SEO clients get access to my course, SEO Strategy Simplified, as a bonus add-on. It’s crafted specifically for coaches and creatives, and only includes tips and strategies that apply to their type of business.

Not only do I demonstrate how to write powerful content, but I also show students and clients how to repurpose their social media written content, audio content like podcasts, and videos, whether Facebook/Instagram lives or YouTube videos. This is HUGE for saving time because newsflash, you don’t have to start from scratch with your blog content each and every time.

3. Do it right

There is SO much misinformation about SEO out there, especially in Facebook groups filled with online coaches and creatives. This misinformation is mostly spammy/black hat SEO tactics that I would never recommend.

It can be very easy to put your DIY hat on and start implementing these spammy SEO strategies on your website. But the issue is that you’re setting yourself for a big ol slap on the wrist from Google, meaning penalization. Not to mention that you end up creating a horrible user experience by keyword stuffing - basically talking like a robot on your site by finding random places to inject your keywords.

It’s important that your Squarespace website is correctly optimized the first time around between the content and technical elements.

This also goes off my last point, and that’s to be careful about who you hire. There are definitely people who read a few blog posts on SEO and think they can start offering it as a service. You’ll probably find these people on freelancing platforms like Upwork for $10 projects.

I’ve heard horror stories of entrepreneurs hiring freelancers who just implement spammy SEO tactics and then have to later go to someone who actually understands how SEO works and end up spending more money because it wasn’t done right the first time around.

4. Craft a strategy

It’s one thing to learn about SEO, but it’s another to actually implement it with a strategy in mind.

A Squarespace SEO expert can analyze your website, provide recommendations, and implement changes for you. They can also do keyword research to help you find the best keywords to focus on for your website and blog content.

It’s more than just using keywords - it’s about using the right keywords that will give you the best possible chance of ranking on page 1 for terms that are actually going to bring traffic and leads to your website. It’s really taking a lot at search volume for those keywords and the level of difficulty to rank for them.

Without using the right keywords, you could be putting out blog content left and right and not seeing any results.

5. Get 1:1 support

Chances are that you’ll get some kind of 1:1 support from an SEO strategist. I can’t speak for everyone, but support is a huge factor of my 1:1 SEO services. My most basic package includes two support calls to walk through the website audit and keyword research together.

Because blogging is instrumental in helping you show up in Google search, I also review my clients’ blog posts to ensure that they’re on the right track. This gives them a chance to take what they’ve learned, apply it, and course correct if needed because let’s be honest, you learn by actually doing.

It’s super important that my clients fully understand and grasp the concept of SEO and how to apply it to their business during the time that we’re working together. That’s why I’ve structured my packages this way.

6. Gain more visibility and grow your sales

We all want more visibility, right? Well, SEO can certainly help with that - but only if done correctly. And any industry can benefit from SEO.

And the best part is that as your visibility grows, so does your email list. As a result, that brings in more cash to your business. As long as you have a way to collect the email addresses of the people visiting your website, you’re golden. Of course, you have to keep up with your email list by sending weekly emails. You can’t ghost people for months and then all of sudden run a promotion with a string of promo emails two days apart. But your email list is most likely going to be your top money maker. Ask any email marketing strategist.

Anywaysss, I went off on a little tangent there. Basically, the reason these two are connected is because people automatically connect Page 1 ranking to authority, credibility and trust. You definitely need to follow through on that with your content that is ranking, however, your content paired with an opt-in form has the power to grow your email list and sales on autopilot. Over time, this could drastically change your business.

Have I convinced you yet about the power of hiring a Squarespace SEO expert? If you’re like hell yes, then take this as an invite to reach out so we can chat about how I can support you! I wouldn’t consider myself an expert, but I spent 2 years in the SEO industry helping billion dollar global brands and high profile people clean up their Google search results. And I spent the last couple years not only growing my visibility in Google, but also helping my clients do the same on Squarespace.
