Why Brine is the Best Squarespace 7.0 Template Family

According to myself and almost every other Squarespace website designer I know, the Brine template is the best Squarespace 7.0 template family.

Besides the fact that it houses one of my all-time favorite templates, the Rally template, it has numerous other benefits that make it my go-to when it comes time to design a website for a client.

Today, I’m covering the top reasons why Brine is the BEST Squarespace 7.0 family, from index pages to customizability.

1.    Brine allows for TONS of style editing options

With the Brine template family, you have plenty of options when it comes time to style your site to fit your branding – or to develop your branding from scratch.

From spacing, to padding, to colors, to banner overlays, Brine allows you to completely customize your website to fit your personal preferences.

It’s worth noting that in templates which DON’T offer this much customization, users can run into cases where they have to try to alter the code of their websites themselves to achieve the look they’re going for.

Brine saves you all that trouble (and the risk of ruining your website with a code mistake.)

2.   There are a plethora of blog options on Brine that allow you to customize your blog to your liking

Your blog is likely one of the most important parts of your website, as it’s where you connect with potential clients on a deeper level, allow them to learn more about you and your business, and provide them with free value (while promoting your services).

Don’t have a blog. Here’s 7 reasons to start one today for your business.

For this reason, it’s important that the template you choose on Squarespace allows you to customize your blog (and its posts) completely to your liking in a way that best suits not only you, but your readers.

The Brine template goes above and beyond in this department, allowing you to make decisions such as which data shows up on blog posts (title, excerpt, etc.…) whether you want your blog home laid out as a grid or list, where you want your share icons, and more.

You can also specifically style blog content in a way that doesn’t just (poorly) mimic the styling of the rest of your site.

3.   Brine lets you use index pages, which can completely transform the look and progression of your site.

Index pages are loved by almost every Squarespace website designer I know because they allow you to compile many different sections of your website (from many different pages) into one page, with separators like sections and lines distinguishing differing content.

You can stack pages, galleries, banner images, and more using Brine, and, according to Squarespace itself, create a “single destination where visitors can browse content from multiple sub-pages.”

It’s important to note that NOT all Squarespace 7.0 or 7.1 templates offer index pages – and I consider this to be a major con when it comes to comparing templates against one another.

I use index pages all the time in my work, and find the benefits to be overwhelming for my clients.

4.   Custom share buttons can be added in the Brine template

Share buttons are important for any entrepreneur wanting their blog content to be shared widely – which covers just about every entrepreneur out there.

For this reason, the ability to add custom share buttons to your website that match your branding and style WITHOUT having to install third-party apps is one of Brine’s best features!

Like some of Brine’s other features I’ve listed, the ability to do this does not come with every theme or template family on Squarespace 7.0, but Brine is one of the few that does include this option when designing your website.

5.   Brine supports a variety of page types that fit the needs of almost every entrepreneur

A nightmare of every Squarespace website designer is that they will start working on a template that doesn’t allow for a type of page central to their client’s needs – whether it’s a blog page, index page, product page, or something else.

Brine, however, supports all of these page types and more, including album pages, cover pages, events pages, gallery pages, and layout pages.

Knowing the Brine family immediately provides me with all these options offers me great peace of mind when it comes time to design a website for a client.

I know, when choosing Brine, I won’t run into issues where pages I need to create for my client aren’t supported (and I have to start over in my design.)

6.   Brine offers complete customization of navigation menus

It’s just as important for people to be able to get around your website as it is for them to get to it – meaning navigation features are ultra-important come design time.

The Brine template family offers complete customization of navigation menus on your site, allowing you to add a main menu, secondary menu, AND a footer menu…and customize each of them completely.

When I say “completely,” I mean that Brine allows for the customization of menus’ positions, sizes, colors, effects, fonts, logo placement, logo width, and more.

This is a major plus as a Squarespace website designer, as I can ensure my client’s website will be equipped with navigation tools and menus to help their visitors get around with ease on menus that not only match their branding, but compliment their website as a whole.

If you are in the process of choosing a template family for your Squarespace website, I cannot recommend Brine enough. I have used it time and time again and will continue using it in months to come thanks to all the features it offers.
