Jessica Sealey: Squarespace Website Design

Jessica is a business coach whose mission is to help women build a thriving business so they can experience a fulfilling life made up of financial and time freedom. She takes a soulful approach to sales that is focused on connection and relationship building methods.

We actually met in a mastermind with another coach almost a year prior, so it was extremely exciting to be supporting her for this side of her business.

When she came to me ready to move forward, she was fed up because she wasn’t design savvy and disliked the technology side of building her own website. She had been surviving off of a DIY website that no longer represented where she was at in business. Jessica had built a 6 figure business in under a year, and she knew that her website was not showcasing her in the most professional light.

She knew it was time to outsource her website and that it was simply not worth her time tinkering around in the backend. Not to mention that she was tired of not having a link to share when potential clients DM’ed her on Instagram asking to see her website.

Keep reading because I’m beyond excited to showcase this website launch for Jessica!

Step 1: Brainstorming

The first step in the design process is filling out the questionnaire. This helps me learn more about my clients’ business, site goals, and website features, among many other factors that help in the design process.

From there, she put together a website inspiration board on Pinterest so I could visually see the website design layouts she really liked. It was clear that Jessica liked simple and clean designs, and was looking for something minimal.

She already had a color palette with a burgundy, light pink, navy, tan and light grey (see below) so we stuck with that. We solidified her font choices - LTC Bodoni, Oswald and a fun script font named Signature. From, there we narrowed the vibe and visuals down to a mood board.

Step 2: Website design

Through the professional design, Jessica wanted people to immediately understand that she’s not cheap. With her coaching packages set at 5 figures, her website needed to represent that.

For that reason, it was super important that the new website made her look professional AF, and we totally achieved that.

Jessica wanted potential clients to feel confident and empowered when they landed on her website. Her main website goal was to have visitors sign up for her freebie to grow her email list and nurture her audience for upcoming offers and launches. For that reason, we made her free download prominent in 3 areas:

  • at the top of the website in the announcement bar

  • at the bottom of her website in her footer

  • as a popup

She already had a bunch of awesome professional photos, which we used throughout the site. It’s rare that I don’t pull in stock photos, but this worked out perfectly.

First, I showed Jessica the homepage so she could review and then we could tweak from there. She loved it, so I moved on to create the rest of the website with a similar vibe.

Jessica absolutely LOVED the new website design and as a result, only minor changes were made. This actually happens a lot, and it’s something I’m super proud to say.

After that, the final steps took place - setting up SEO, checking mobile and tablet responsiveness, and ensuring the site was secure.

Step 3: Website launch

At the end of the project, we hopped on a Zoom call, where we connected the domain, transferred website ownership, set up Google Analytics, and connected the social media profiles!

Jessica also received a video recorded walkthrough of the backend so that she knew how to make simple changes in the future. I want my clients to feel empowered to change simple aspects of their website like text, which surprisingly has been a struggle for many of my clients who previously had Wordpress.

Here's what Jessica had to say about working together...

Before working with Lauren, I felt clueless and embarrassed that I had a DIY site that looked like garbage and then let the URL expire only to not get it fixed for months...

Lauren is efficient, professional, and provided great quality of service. Plus the design was incredible. She’s very organized, which is what I look for and appreciate when I outsource.

My new website is going to help me more of a leader in my industry hands down. Not having a site or having a broken link was hurting my leadership. Lauren was honestly amazing. HIRE HER!! She's incredible, takes really good care of you, and has tons of talent.
