Squarespace Email Campaigns: Is It Worth It?

I get a ton of questions from my clients regarding Squarespace Email Campaigns: their ease of use, how to set them up, and, above all, whether they are worth the time and money investment.

I personally have not used Squarespace Email Campaigns for my own business, but, as a Squarespace website designer, I have helped many of my clients set up and use it for their own.

Today, I’m covering everything about Squarespace Email Campaigns, from features to pricing - AKA my complete Squarespace Email Campaigns review!

What is email marketing and what options integrate inside Squarespace?

If you’re new to the business and marketing world, the concept of email marketing may be completely foreign to you - and that’s okay!

Email marketing is essentially the use of emails (sent to a list of consenting subscribers) to promote something - your business, your products, your services, etc…

Though it’s one of the least leveraged forms of marketing, it’s one of the most useful - and likely to give you a great return on your investment of time and money.

While, on other media platforms, you’re promoting your business, products, or services to a wide audience and hoping your ideal clients will see your posts, email marketing allows you to market specifically to members of your ideal audience who have shown interest in your business already - so much so that they were willing to give you their email address to stay in touch!

Now, if you’re wondering, “Does Squarespace have email marketing?” the answer is yes! Squarespace not only offers seamless integration in its newsletter blocks with other popular email campaign platforms such as Mailchimp, Google Drive, or Zapier, but also offers its own email campaigns platform called Squarespace Email Campaigns.

What are Squarespace Email Campaigns?

According to Squarespace, Email Campaigns “offer a unique way for you to grow and communicate with your audience while staying true to your brand and design.”

Squarespace Email Campaigns do three important things: allow you to grow, manage, and engage with your audience.

You can grow your email list using these campaigns by installing a newsletter block on your website, or a subscription option at checkout. From there, you can use Email Campaigns to view all your subscribers in one convenient place, allowing you to manage your list and keep track of important metrics.

Lastly, you can create and send beautiful emails to your list right inside Squarespace to engage with your audience and increase sales.

Squarespace Email Campaigns Features

Buckle up, because Squarespace offers a LOT of features for those using its email campaign service to get the most bang for their buck.

First, there are a plethora of email templates and layouts provided to you so you can choose responsive, effective, and clean layouts for each email blast you send.

From there, easy drag-and-drop editing makes it easy to edit text and add whatever it is you want to your email  - from images, to buttons, to product links.

Each email campaign comes with many analytics features to help you understand everything going on behind the scenes of your emails, including open rates, clicks, and conversions.

Something I really like about Squarespace Email Campaigns is that you can easily compare your website’s organic traffic with marketing traffic generated from your email blasts to see just how effective each email is in converting to real engagement on your website.

Squarespace Email Campaigns Pricing

Squarespace offers four different subscription packages, all with differing features and abilities. Choosing which one is right for your business will depend on many factors, such as how big your email list is, how many emails you want to send each month, and whether you need these campaigns to be automated.

Starter Plan

First is the Starter Plan, which (like every other plan) allows for an infinite number of subscribers on your list, but limits the total emails you can send each month to 500.

(So, if your list is over 500 people, you couldn’t send an email to everyone each month.)

It allows for three blast campaigns, NO automated campaigns, and has Squarespace branding in its footer.

This plan starts at $6 per month.

Core Plan

Next is the Core Plan, which allows for 5,000 sends per month, five campaign blasts per month, automated campaigns, and does not include Squarespace branding in the footer.

This plan starts at $11 per month.

Pro Plan

The second most expensive plan is the Pro Plan, which allows for twenty blasts, 50,000 total sends, automated campaigns, and the removal of Squarespace branding from the footer.

This plan starts at $26 per month.

Max Plan

Last and most expensive is the Max Plan, which allows for unlimited campaigns blasts, 250,000 emails per month, automated campaigns, and the removal of Squarespace branding.

This plan starts at $52 per month.

Is it worth it?

All this information brings us to the final question at the root of what you’re asking - Are Squarespace Email Campaigns worth it?

Of course, only you can decide what is right for your business depending on pricing, capabilities, and more, but, as a Squarespace and Showit website designer, of course I have an opinion.

From the work and processes I’ve seen, Email Campaigns are a great starting point for business owners who simply need to send weekly or monthly newsletters to their smaller audience.

However, they aren’t the best option for advanced funnels and automations, which usually come with their own needs and requirements from an email campaign platform.

So, if you’re a business owner who is just starting out and looking for easy integration between your website and email list, I’d say go for it!

If you’re looking for a more complex, capable platform, I’d recommend checking out others first.
