8 Amazing Squarespace Features for Online Business Owners

I’m a Squarespace and Showit website designer, and I absolutely love designing websites for my clients using Squarespace. During the many years I have used it, it has continued to grow and improve - becoming a phenomenal option for online business owners who are looking to streamline and simplify their business practices for efficiency.

Today, I’m covering eight Squarespace features that are uniquely built into Squarespace’s back end, making Squarespace a nearly all-in-one platform that busy business owners can use to simplify their to-do lists without needing a thousand different accounts and service providers.

1. Email Marketing

Online business owners know how important it is to have a well-nourished email list in order to promote bookings and sales - and Squarespace Email Campaigns allows Squarespace users to write and schedule email list emails right inside the backend of their website, making maintaining their lists a breeze.

It can quickly feel overwhelming to have a different service provider and account for everything, so being able to manage emails without a secondary provider is one of my favorite Squarespace features.

Many of my clients use Squarespace Email Campaigns to stay in touch with their community.

2. Course/Membership Hub

Squarespace also has a course/membership hub called the Squarespace Members Area, where visitors to your website can sign up (free or paid) to be members of your site, and thus get access to extra content like digital products, courses, and blog posts.

This is a great way for busy entrepreneurs to make extra money from their website while sharing their knowledge and expertise with their audience!

3. Ecommerce for Digital and Physical Products

Squarespace can directly incorporate ecommerce into each website so you sell digital and physical goods right from your own website.

If you currently sell on another provider/website that’s not your own, such as Etsy, moving your products to your own website is a great way to 1) maintain better and more immediate control over your products, sales, and customer experience, and 2) give your shop a better sense of professionalism.

When your products are hosted by a website someone else owns, the control over those products ultimately rests in their hands, not yours - which can be pretty terrifying if a large portion of your business comes from direct sales of products.

4. Domain Registration and Hosting

Squarespace also offers direct domain registration and hosting services, so there’s no need to use a secondary service like GoDaddy or Bluehost along with your website in order to get a custom domain name like www.yourwebsite.com. You register and pay for it all through Squarespace! (And it’s even included in your Squarespace plan!)

As I mentioned earlier, this keeps things simple, and allows you to access everything domain-related right inside the backend of your website - instead of trying to manage it from a separate website entirely.

5. GSuite Management

GSuite is what many online business owners use to get an email address sounding like “name@theirwebsite.com.”

Run through Google, it makes their email presence MUCH more professional, and allows them to manage their own inbox in an organized fashion. You also get access to Google Drive (like Sheets and Docs,) YouTube, and more through your professional GSuite account - so everything can be kept in the same place.

Squarespace offers this management through Squarespace itself, making it easy to link both accounts and keep everything organized in one place.

6. Complete Customization

One of my favorite Squarespace features is the complete customization it allows for on any website. While many other website builders have limits on what colors, fonts, and other design elements can be used, Squarespace allows for easy font uploading and color choices, making essentially any color or font possible on your website.

This allows your visitors to have a complete and cohesive experience of your brand on your website, ensuring all fonts, colors, and other design elements go together perfectly for a professional look - and is important for anyone looking to use fun fonts on their website that stray from the usual Arial, Times New Roman, and Calibri.

7. Unsplash Free Stock Image Search

Built right into Squarespace’s platform is a free image search through Unsplash. If you choose to add an image to a page on your site, you can search by keyword for the image you’re looking for - and use it on your website, free of royalties.

Unsplash features only royalty-free images that can be used on any website without causing legal problems/copyright infringement, making it a safe and easy option for anyone looking to directly upload images to their site for free.

8. Live Chat Support with Short Wait Times

One of my all-time favorite Squarespace features is its live chat support with minimal wait times.

One of the most frustrating things for entrepreneurs is paying a lot of money for a service, running into an issue with it, and not being able to get help from the company you bought it from for hours or even days.

Squarespace eliminates that problem with its many customer service representatives who are always available and ready to help you out with any issues you may run into while operating your Squarespace website.

I’m not too proud to say I have had to use the chat support before, especially early on in my business, and I’ve always been pleasantly surprised by how quickly and kindly all my issues were resolved.

If you’re looking for a website building superpower with a variety of features that can help you run your business as cost-effectively and stress-freely as possible, I highly recommend Squarespace. I have been a Squarespace and Showit website designer for several years, and have always turned to Squarespace for all my own website development needs.

I hope this post helps you understand the several amazing Squarespace features that make Squarespace stand out amongst the sea of options.
