Ardent Life Design: Showit Website Design

Brittany is the face behind Ardent Life Design.

As a lawyer and mother, Brittany helps women in the legal field gain perspective on the possibilities available to them, achieve total clarity on what they truly want, and build an actionable plan so that they can create a custom-designed life that they ardently pursue.

She is on mission to champion positive change in the legal industry so that the needs and aspirations of women lawyers are prioritized & nurtured to create the life they’ve always wanted - inside & outside the practice of law.

Since Brittany was in the beginning stages of her business, she didn’t have a website. She felt that she didn’t have the technical knowledge or background to understand coding, so she was ready to hand this part of her business off right away.

She did, however, work with a graphic designer for branding.

So we had a great starting point for this project!

Let’s dive in further…

Step 1: Pre-design prep

With my in-depth design questionnaire, I gathered all the info I needed for Brittany’s project.

She also sourced images and website layouts on a Pinterest board as part of the process, which was very helpful in understanding more of the visual layouts she was envisioning for the website.

She had a mix of greens, creams, and brown for her color palette, which you can see below.

For fonts, we had:

  • Heading font: Hunter

  • Accent font: Optima Bold

  • Button and paragraph font: Montserrat Regular

Step 2: Website Design

Brittany wanted a clean, crips, calm, and minimalistic design with a touch of boho. She didn’t want it to feel loud, busy, distracting, or have too much animation.

It was important that the website felt modern, sophisticated, and approachable while still feeling corporate-friendly and credible.

She wanted it to exude design beauty and be reflective of her authenticity as a thought leader in the law and motherhood space.

The neutral, calming colors her brand designer helped her figure out were on par with this vision, and her professional photos also provided the playful and relatable vibe she wanted website visitors to experience on the website.

And of course, as with any website I design, Brittany wanted it to be user friendly and not look DIY.

Below are screenshots of the new website!

Step 3: Website launch

Once revisions were complete, it was time to launch the website 🎉

I transferred ownership of the website to Brittany and did a video walkthrough of the website so she understood how to make simple changes in the backend of Showit.

This was a fun collaboration with Brittany and I hope you enjoyed the behind the scenes!
