How Much Does a Squarespace SEO Expert Cost?

When it comes time to hire a Squarespace SEO expert, there are a lot of things to consider—the investment being one of them.

SEO stands for search engine optimization, and can mean the difference between getting tons of relevant traffic to your website every day—and getting no visitors at all. For more info, you can check out my blog post on SEO here!

When asking the question, “How much does a Squarespace SEO expert cost?” you’ll likely get different answers depending on who you ask—so, today, I’m detailing different price points for different types of SEO strategists.

Also, keep in mind that this post is catered for small business owners (such as coaches, consultants, and service providers) who are looking to hire another individual, not an SEO agency.

(Be sure to check out my blog post on “signs you need to hire an SEO expert” before deciding if it’s time to take this step in your business!)

$200-$500: Beginner SEO Strategist

When I first started offering Squarespace SEO services, I charged $300 for my packages. Many other beginner SEO strategists charge similar amounts, from a couple of hundred dollars to $500.

Oftentimes, these strategists keep their prices low in order to gain experience and build their portfolio, and to compensate for any learning curves that may interrupt the process.

This was the case for me, as I felt more comfortable starting at a lower rate for my first couple clients. I already had 2 years of agency experience implementing SEO tactics for big brands and high profile people, so I wanted to test out my packages.

If you choose to work with an SEO strategist for less than $500, keep in mind that, while they might do AMAZING work, they also might still be learning, and may be working on a longer timeline or have less of a portfolio to show you beforehand.

In addition, it’s important to note that I would not recommend hiring anyone charging less than $200 for SEO strategy. Remember that this will be an investment into your website, and, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

(So, that person online offering to SEO your entire website for $10? Probably not a reliable expert.)

Note that some companies and individuals also offer SEO trainings or courses at this price—meaning they won’t be doing the SEO for your website, but they will be sharing their tips on how to do it for yourself.

$500-$1.5K: Intermediate SEO Strategist

Intermediate SEO strategists who have built up some sort of portfolio and have some experience under their belt usually charge between $500 and $1,500.

There are also courses or trainings which go for this price, and are usually more intensive and professional than courses offered at a much lower price point.

Keep in mind that, while intermediate SEO strategists will probably have a good idea of what they are doing, they may still be building their portfolio and looking for experience—so expecting perfection here isn’t healthy.

You can, however, expect a decently optimized website that will help your content appear higher up in search results! I recommend hiring an SEO strategist at this price point if you are starting out in your business and looking for real results without a huge monetary investment.

$1.5K-$3K: Expert SEO Strategist

“Experts” in SEO strategy who cater to online business owners generally cost between $1,500 and $3,000 for comprehensive packages.

I say “expert” with quotation marks because it’s a word that is thrown around a lot in the online business space. However, in this instance, I’m referring to someone with a few years of experience who has a proven track record of success with clients.

As a reference, my SEO packages include content optimization, keyword research, support calls, and more, and I charge $2,500 (at the time of this post).

P.S. Check out my signature SEO framework here!

I am able to confidently charge at this price point because of my extensive experience, partnered with the intense work I do on each website through my comprehensive package!

For most business owners ready to scale (who are serious about hitting the first page of Google as soon as possible) an SEO strategist in this price range could be the best option.

As long as you are working with someone reputable, you will get a solid return on investment at a generally affordable price—and should see enough conversion on your website that it is well worth it!

$3K-$5K: Highly Sought-After (+ Renowned) SEO Strategist

If your website is a normal size (i.e. with five to seven pages,) I would only recommend paying this much for Squarespace SEO strategy if you are a multi six-figure business owner who is very serious about hitting the top of the first page (or even the very first result) on Google and wants a super deep dive into analytics, user behavior, and a content analysis.

For this price range, some packages may include backlink strategy/implementation and content writing.

Most business owners are not paying this much for SEO for their websites—and that’s okay!

While SEO should be an investment into your business, it’s also important to remember that you can always scale as you grow—and, if hiring someone at a lower price point doesn’t give you the results you want, you can always hire someone else once your business has grown financially.

The last thing you want is to overinvest in SEO strategy, so much so that you can’t afford to keep your business running anyway!

So, how much does a Squarespace SEO expert cost?

As you can see from this post, the answer will be different depending on your business’s immediate needs—but most entrepreneurs will find SEO packages between $1K and $3K to make the most sense logically and financially.

In this comfortable range, you can expect to get good results (AKA, reach the first page of Google for relevant long-tail keywords) without a wait time of longer than a few months to start working with the strategist.

Keep in mind that it’s important to do your research on the experience, reliability, and integrity of whomever you decide to hire. Just because you pay someone one thousand dollars does not guarantee they will do amazing work on your website!

Avoid being scammed by asking for examples, checking testimonials, and hopping on a discovery call before making any kind of payment.
