People say that being an SEO blog writer is difficult.

People say that you can overwhelm yourself trying to relearn the ever-changing Google algorithm. And that, unless you commit yourself fully, you'll never write SEO-friendly blogs.

That's some scary assertion, right? Well, don't fret.

If you are regular here, then you know that I am an expert in all things SEO. And I can affirm that the fundamentals of good SEO writing don't change.

With the right tools and dedication, you can write a compelling blog post that engages your readers and ranks high on search results pages.

What is SEO blog writing?

Let's begin by breaking the term down – what is SEO?

Search engine optimization (SEO) means the process of improving your website to enhance its visibility and rank high on Google's search results page. Now, how can you rank on page 1 of Google?

This is where SEO content plays a vital role.

In the world of search engine optimization, content is king. Whether you are an online coach or creative, you need SEO content to become visible on search engines.

Why?

It's simple. Search engines look for helpful information that educates, informs, or solves a problem for your audience.

SEO blog writing, therefore, is the process of writing content with SEO best practices in mind. This process involves analyzing keywords and writing great content that suits user intent.

What is an SEO Content Writer?

An SEO content writer is someone who can search for specific keywords, determine what someone searching for those keywords needs to know, and write it properly. 

Also, a good SEO blog writer should know how to use keywords effectively to help the reader find the content in search engines.

As a business owner who has invested in support for this blog, I can attest to how important it is to find someone who is an SEO content writer so that your content isn’t just engaging, but also optimized to rank on Google.

Nowadays, it’s common to find freelance writers who are well versed with the basics of SEO and can help you fill in the gaps with your content.

You can use sites like Upwork and People Per Hour to find content writers. Be sure that you look for content writers who are well versed with SEO.

How are SEO-friendly blogs written?

As I said, you need quality content to rank in Google. However, pumping out content won’t cut it. Your website needs legit search engine optimization to rank high on Google result pages.

Despite what many people think, writing SEO-friendly blogs isn’t a complicated process. There are some easy steps and practices to follow to ensure that your published blogs are SEO-friendly.

Using one primary keyword as the focus

Using one primary keyword as the focus will help you write clearly. Let's say you want to write a blog about keyword research tools.

Your primary keyword can be "places to do SEO keywords."

Don't use "ways to drive blog traffic" as another keyword within the same article. That's confusing and unrelated, wouldn't you agree?

Personally, using one primary keyword helps my audience understand what my blog post is about. This, in turn, makes the content much more suitable to what my target audience is searching for. 

While sprinkling in other related keywords in a blog post is totally fine, make sure you're not stuffing the blog with keywords.

Optimize the blog post by using that keyword multiple times

Adding keywords multiple times throughout a blog post is a HUGE part of SEO content writing.

But the question is, how frequently or how many times should you use keywords. There’s no ideal keyword density.

In fact, Google has stated that they don't consider keyword density when ranking web pages.

A good rule of thumb is to use a keyword once per 200 words of copy. You can add specific keywords about 5 times in a standard 1000 blog post. Anything more can be deemed spammy. 

Stuffing content with keywords results in a bad user experience and can hurt your site’s ranking. 

Also, don’t forget the location of your keyword. Precisely, you want to ensure that your keyword appears in:

  • Your title tag

  • Your URL

  • The first 100 words of your blog post or article

  • Header tags

Satisfying the answer for the keyword

There is no point in spending time researching keywords and churning out blog posts if your blog doesn't satisfy the answer for the keyword.

Simply put: your blog post needs to give those searching for that keyphrase what they need. Google wants to satisfy human searching. 

So before creating a blog outline, check Google for that keyword to know what people are searching for and the information they need. Then write your blog around the question they've asked, ensuring you answer that specific question or problem.

If your blog post gives Google what it wants, don't be shocked to see your webpage on Google's first page.



Is blogging good for SEO?

There are a lot of business pages out there that never get noticed because it doesn't rank. And so, it never gets the opportunity to assist, educate, and convert anyone.

Blogging is one of those strategies that help increase SEO quality by placing your website as a solution to your customers' needs. And the more you write quality content and optimize them for SEO, the more your web pages will get seen by potential clients.

Imagine receiving lots of emails from potential leads saying they found you through Google. Well, that's what blogging can do.

So yes, blogging is good for SEO. And the amazing benefits blogging brings to the table make it a smart investment, especially for online coaches and service providers.

Which blog platform is best for SEO?

WordPress, Showit, and Squarespace are all great blog platforms for SEO. There isn't one that's the holy grail of SEO.

But having had experience with all three, I find Squarespace to be the easiest option for a small business owner.

How often should I blog for SEO?

Many of my clients ask me these questions daily. The simple truth: it depends on what's best for your business! 

You need to consider these factors: your audience, content marketing goals, and available resources. 

Startups have found success posting once a week, while bigger companies can churn out several blog posts daily.

So if you're a team of one, you don't need to pump out content frequently. If you do, you'll likely get burned out and publish content that's not valuable to your audience.

For most online business owners I work with, such as coaches and service providers, I recommend publishing two to four blog posts a month.
