Health Resonates: Squarespace Website Design
Today I’m taking you behind the scenes of my Squarespace website design project with Tara of Health Resonates.
Health Resonates is a wellness and beauty brand located in Portland, Maine. The space runs as a co-op for service providers and Tara provides massage and holistic skincare services on site (in additional to travel options). She sells holistic wellness products on her website as well as an online course for licensed aestheticians, massage therapists, and acupuncturists wanting to uplevel their crafts.
Tara had a DIY website that was no longer serving her, and she was ready to upgrade her online presence to an online home that was strategically set up to support her offers.
Step 1: Color palette and fonts
Tara already had her logo and color palette set, but we ended up adding in a burgundy shade to add some contrast and compliment some of her clothes in her brand photos.
Here was her final color palette:
For fonts, we used:
Calgary font for headings
The Something Script for accents
Proxima Nova for paragraphs
Step 2: Website Design
With Tara’s DIY website, it was missing order, ease, and flow with the rest of her branding. It was outdated and she felt it looked young and immature (i.e. not the professional and high level vibe she was already embodying).
Tara stressed that she didn’t want to lose any of the backend tech that she had spent a lot of time developing. Inside her old website, she had:
an established email list inside Squarespace’s Email Campaigns
products in the shop (integrated with the email account)
client info/bookings
blog content that was already ranking on page 1 and driving thousands of views each month
So although I almost always recreate a website under my account and then give access to the client after the project is done, it made more sense to edit her existing website. So I made this exception for her :)
She wanted her website to feel stimulating, calming, nurturing, enticing, natural, and earthy. Tara is inspired by freedom and wanted her spiritual side to come through, which was captured mainly in her photos and in the way page elements were laid out.
It was most important that the new site was easy to use and understand to users. Looking at inspiration websites, she loved the parallax feature and how it added flow and movement to the site.
With the new layout and structure, she wanted to highlight her shop, courses, and her Day of Wellness offering.

Step 3: Website launch
Tara asked for very minimal revisions, so we actually launched a little early! The launch call itself was fairly short since Tara was already extremely familiar with Squarespace. I walked her through some simple changes she didn’t have experience with before, and that was it!

Here is what Tara had to say about working together…
“Lauren was very organized and clear on what she needed from me. She has a great way of communicating. I liked how easy it was and how little it took from my time.
I wasn't sure if anyone would be able to come up with a concept I really loved. Letting go of control was the most difficult part of the process, but I was pleasantly surprised on how Lauren brought my brand to life and really succeeded at displaying my site better than I could have imagined. She has a great can-do attitude, stays on track and schedule, and delivers above and beyond.
The new site makes it easier for potential clients to understand all my offerings and how they work together. If you're considering working with Luaren, go for it! She is skilled at what she does!”
