Reasons to Use an Events Page on Your Squarespace Website
Whether you’re a service provider, product seller, photographer, or some other kind of business owner, the time might come when you realize you’d like to create a Squarespace events page for an event you’re planning.
As a website designer, I love encouraging my clients to think outside the box when it comes to events. If most of your clients are based all over the world, or an in-person event isn’t possible, hosting virtual events (like large Zoom meetings, online trainings, or Instagram lives) are a great way to connect with customers + clients in real time and build community surrounding your brand.
Whether your event is in person or online, creating an events page on your Squarespace website to build up hype for your event and post updates is a great way to keep the event professional and ensure everyone has all the info they need in order for it to be a success!
Ways to Use the Events Page in Squarespace
As I mentioned before, there are a variety of ways to use a Squarespace events page, even if you aren’t able to host in-person events. Here is a run-down of the basics for inspiration!
Online Trainings/Conferences
Today, it’s normal and popular for trainings and conferences to be held online so that everyone, regardless of where they are located, can attend and network with people all over the world.
Holding a training where you provide value related to your niche (such as tips for public speaking, the basics of photography, etc…) or a conference where you can connect professionally with your community, is a great way to grow brand awareness and allow your customers or clients to meet one another.
On a Squarespace events page, you can provide important info to those wanting to attend, such as the time and date of the online meeting, a Zoom or Microsoft Teams link, a sign-up sheet, and more that allow you to keep your event organized.
No one wants to clear their schedule for an event that they feel isn’t well-planned or organized, so ensuring everyone who visits your events page can immediately recognize how much thought and planning has gone into your event is essential.
In-Person Conferences
In-person conferences (though they require more planning and a bigger budget) are also great for networking and educational purposes.
If you’re hosting an in-person conference, creating a Squarespace events page is a good idea in order to cover all the info your attendees will need, from the date, time, and location of the event, to lodging information, if applicable.
The great thing about an events page is that you can provide outbound links to your audience, (such as to a hotel or restaurant website where they can make arrangements for the conference) directly from your events page without forcing your guests to do extra research on their own.
In-Person Fundraisers
An in-person fundraiser can look like a 5K run/walk, a silent auction, a family game night—the list goes on! Regardless of what you’re planning, creating an events page is perfect for advertising the event, providing links to donation sites such as GoFundMe, and more.
You can even provide detailed information to your audience, such as directions to the venue, on this page so there are no hiccups on the day of your event.
Instagram Lives//Q+As
Lastly, a more low-key event you can advertise and host (without all the planning that comes with hosting a summit, conference, or fundraiser) is an Instagram live event such as a Q+A for your audience, where you can connect with them and answer their questions in real-time.
You can provide a link to this event, details about topics covered, a submissions form for questions beforehand, and more on an events page. You can also add any other information you deem relevant, such as which topics will be covered.
Is there a calendar on Squarespace?
A question I get often from my clients is whether there is a calendar block available on Squarespace where they can showcase upcoming events, such as on the events page itself—and the answer is yes!
Squarespace enables the addition of calendar blocks to any page, to which you can add all of your upcoming events to be seen in one place.
As a Squarespace website designer, I love adding calendar pages to clients’ websites when they will need to offer a clean, organized layout of events for their audience to view as needed.
This is especially relevant for business owners with in-person selling events or in-person services, where bookings are necessary well in advance.
However, I’ve found that many of my clients have benefited from a Squarespace events page at some point or another in their business journey—so adding one for them is something I always offer during my website design and building process.
