Elizabeth Rodgers: Showit Website Design

This project with Elizabeth is very special for a few reasons. The first being that Elizabeth is such a kind and special soul who is doing her life’s mission in helping others heal holistically. And apart from other health coaches, Elizabeth has a background in medicine so she is truly an incredible resource for anyone who is looking to get answers to their health conditions.

Secondly, this was a rebrand from the year prior when we had worked together. In that time, Elizabeth had gained so much clarity about her business offerings and who she wanted to serve. And that is massive when it comes to hiring someone for custom website design and getting the most out of your investment.

So the before images you’ll see later in this post are from the design I put together the year prior.

The one main difference between the two besides the design being completely upleveled is her images.

Elizabeth worked with an incredible photographer to help her capture the true essence of her brand. And this, honestly, makes all the difference in the world.

Her original website was more “buttoned up” and academic looking. Whereas this website imagery conveyed the freedom that becomes intertwined with healing.

Let’s dive in deeper!

Step 1: Color palette and fonts

Elizabeth worked with a graphic designer to create her logo and establish her colors and fonts. For fonts, she went with:

  • Didot Regular for headings

  • White Garden Script Pro for accents

  • Montserrat for small headings and paragraphs

Elizabeth wanted her website to feel expansive, free, joyful, healing, and peaceful, among many other qualities. Her graphic designer had chosen a mix of blues, greens, purples, and cream. This was the original palette.

Although Elizabeth was very happy with these colors before we jumped into the website design, it became apparent very quickly during the homepage buildout that some of these colors were too heavy and didn’t compliment the softness of her images. It was crucial that symmetry existed between the two since her images were the main storyteller of her brand.

I kept the general theme, but softened the purple and blue shades. Here is the final color palette.

Elizabeth also mentioned wanting a hint of gold in the new site, so we added in various elements to create a subtle accent.

Step 2: Website Design

For the overall look and feel, here’s what Elizabeth said: “Going for the vein of hope and possibility while bringing along the depth of me and my spirituality. I want this look and feel to blend the magical, spiritual, softness with the confident, radiant, thought leader and powerhouse who is here to lead a movement - the benevolent, heart centered leader!”

Compared to her previous website, Elizabeth was ready to completely leave it behind.

She said, “it does not visually take people on a journey to feel connected to my energy and have an experience that impacts them deeply and allows them to get to know me and my work in such a way that clearly shows the embodiment of the blend of science and spiritual, physical and energetic. It feels too professional and unapproachable now.”

She wanted the new site to have a sense of magic to it that embodied all areas of her practice. It was important to her that people felt instantly connected when they arrive, and that it felt like they’re in a safe, sacred space that is unique and different.

I was ready for the challenge to bring her vision to life!

Elizabeth had worked with an incredible photographer to bring the essence of her brand to life. Between the images and the visual direction I received from Elizabeth’s Pinterest board and other inspiration websites, I was ready to bring her new online home into a reality.

Step 3: Website launch

Going into this website launch, it was actually fairly emotional. It’s not often that you get to work with a client a second time.

And to see a product that you created that your client is not only immensely proud of, but that you as the designer can see as a soul-aligned representation of this person’s work, is a true gift. The year and a half between projects gave me a lot of time to get to know Elizabeth better, and it was beautiful to be able to bring her dream vision to life.

Pretty sure we both shared some tears on this call…

After the SEO for the pages and images were set, it was time to connect the domain and get this baby live! I transferred the website into her account and did a quick walkthrough of the website, talking through how to make simple changes.

And that was a wrap!

Here is what Elizabeth had to say about working together…

“Lauren is truly one of a kind.  It was so important to me that somehow, someway my genuine heart and Spirit and the love with which I do my work would shine through and be apparent in an online world.  I wasn't sure that would be possible.

Lauren turned my dream into a reality!!  She went above and beyond what I could have hoped for in a website.  Lauren is incredibly gifted and talented.  I've worked with her twice now and consider her my web woman for life!  She puts so much care, thoughtfulness, time, and love into her work.  That energy completely shows and makes the world of a difference in the phenomenal results she creates.

Lauren is a gem to work with.  She is so sincere.  It is really hard to find the words to express my gratitude for her, the work she does, and the impact it is going to help me have for years to come in my business.  She completely knocked it out of the park!  Lauren is so dedicated to her work.  She makes the process of working together so smooth and efficient with clear communication.

I cannot recommend her highly enough.  It honestly brings tears to my eyes to write this for her, I hope everyone knows how special she is.  What a gift!

I know that my new web design will transform my business and life, as it now totally aligns with the essence of who I am and how I serve others.”
