6 Free Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Website
It’s time to spill some truth: your website should be working for you - not just sitting in a lonely corner of the internet collecting dust (and cobwebs.)
This means your website shouldn’t just be for show - it should be converting visitors into email list subscribers, social media followers, and even paying clients.
Before it can do any of these things, though, you have to be sure it’s being seen by the people who can become all of these things to your business. And that means driving traffic to it!
Today, I’m covering exactly how to drive traffic to your website in a way that grows your business on autopilot.
1. Blog with an SEO strategy
Blogging with a search engine optimization strategy is one of the best ways to get consistent traffic on your website.
If you didn’t know already, SEO is what ensures you show up on Google for specific keywords and search terms.
For example, if you’re a life coach who writes a blog post featuring the keyword “why is it important to find your purpose in life,” your goal is to appear on page 1 of the search results when someone searches that question on Google - getting clicks to your website.
This is one of my favorite ways to drive traffic to my website because I’m already blogging anyway - and this just ensures my posts (and the rest of my website) are seen by more people.

I know SEO sounds scary, but it actually doesn’t have to be extremely time-consuming - or even difficult! For more information on how to utilize SEO to rank on page 1 of Google, check out this blog post!
2. Use Pinterest
Pinterest is one of the best ways to market your website because its algorithm is so different from other social media like Instagram or Facebook.
It’s actually a search engine, not a social media platform, and one of the best things about it is that pins are evergreen - meaning they don’t get pushed to the bottom of results when new ones are posted like on Instagram.
For this reason, posting graphics about your services and blog posts is a great way to passively drive traffic to your website for months (and even years) to come.
I love using Canva to quickly create professional graphics that can be posted on Pinterest in batches, saving me time and money.

3. Guest post + submit articles to publications
Sometimes, one of the best ways to drive traffic to your website is through other websites!
Obviously, if you want your website to be featured on someone else’s website, you should provide said website owner with something in return.
A great way to do this is through offering a guest post to their blog on a topic that aligns with their niche (and yours!) or by submitting useful articles relating to your niche to publications.
You can ask that, if the post or article is used, your website is linked at the bottom.
If readers of the guest post or article enjoy your content, they’ll likely want to know more about you and read more of your posts, which can all be found - you guessed it! - on your website.
Not only does linking your website at the bottom of your post help with visibility, but it also helps with SEO by boosting your website’s authority.
A great example on my own website is Susie Moore’s Five Minutes to Famous Review blog post, which you can read here. In it, I detail Susie Moore’s course and how it has helped me engage with the media in regard to my business.
I’ve been featured in a few different publications using the resources and tips from her course.
4. Mention it in podcast interviews
If you happen to be interviewed on a podcast, make sure that, in addition to providing plenty of value to the audience, you also give them a way to find you afterward and support your business!
A podcast interview is a great time to mention your website, and asking the host to include it in their show notes is another excellent way to help it be seen by potential clients.
Make sure you give them an incentive to hop over to your site, whether it be a freebie, more info on the topic you covered on the podcast, or even just your services.
Since most podcast hosts put show notes on their website, not just on iTunes or Spotify, you can also earn high quality backlinks from this strategy.
5. Promote it on social media
You’ve probably heard a MILLION times why you should be using social media to promote your business - but you should also be using it to directly promote your website!
Utilize the link in your Instagram bio to direct traffic to your website, along with an enticing message above it such as “Get a freebie here!” with a down arrow.
If you can’t decide which page to link to, you can also create a landing page on your website (which I create for all of my website design clients!)
This allows you to direct clients to your website while giving them plenty of destination options, from your freebie, to your service page, to your other socials.
6. Keep business cards handy at in-person events
Just because an event is in-person doesn’t mean you can’t promote your virtual space, anyway!
Keep business cards with your website address on the back handy at all times, especially when you’re going to be at in-person networking events.
This prevents any awkward conversations in which you may have to try to verbally explain your website URL to someone while they try to find it on their phone.
Instead, you can tell them about your website and provide them with a handy card to take home and use later.
(Psst...this also makes you look uber-prepared and professional, which will score you major points in any social setting!)
