Copywriting for Creatives Course Review

Well grab a cup of coffee (or wine) and settle in because I’m about to dive into my experience.

First off, who is Ashlyn?

Ashlyn Carter of ashlynwrites.com is a copywriter for creative entrepreneurs. She created the course as a more affordable way for business owners to work with her by investing in this DIY copy course.

Why I took it

There’s quite a few reasons why I invested in this program back in mid 2019.

Recommendation

I heard about it from another website designer back in 2019. I read about her experience in the program, and since I had been following this person for some time, I really trusted her opinion.

Not to mention that the course had glowing testimonials that gave me confidence in the quality of the course content.

I had also been binging Ashlyn’s YouTube videos and knew that she knew her shit. I also knew the types of big-name clients she supported with her 1:1 work, and it was clear she was the real deal. 

Needing clarity asap

I was struggling to sign clients in my business and realized I needed to learn how to write bomb ass copy that connected with ideal clients.

I was working with a business coach but not seeing the results I wanted. After being booked out for 7 consecutive months, I went 2 whole months with radio silence.

We’re talking no interest from anyone...not even a consultation call sign up so I could pitch my services 😬

It was BAD. I was showing up on Instagram Stories almost every day and posting to my feed 5x a week plus repurposing that content inside Facebook Groups.

Differentiating factor

It truly helped me figure out my only-ness factor, which is my professional background in SEO that sets me apart from all the other Squarespace designers that cater to the same audience I do.

Ever since I started taking blogging more seriously and moving forward with an SEO strategy, I get inquiries from Google each month who come to my website, read through my offerings, and set up a call.

Many end up booking, so there is a clear financial gain from implementing copy best practices. 

Final Thoughts

Was it worth the money? Hell yes. There’s sooo much packed into this program.

Plus the templates are downright incredible.

Hiring a copywriter to write your website is double the investment of the course (or more), and this will not only help you write the best damn copy you can, but it also gives you the essential business foundations you need when it comes to messaging and positioning your services and offerings.
